Since 2002 the Zurich-Basel Plant Science Center (PSC) offers the PSC PhD Program in Plant Sciences. It is a joint program of the University of Zurich, ETH Zurich and the University of Basel.

The program offers training in frontier topics relating to molecular plant biology, environmental sciences, systematic botany and agronomy. It also provides participants with opportunities to acquire non-scientific knowledge and transferable skills required for a successful career in academia and beyond. All courses are carried out in English:

Students will obtain their PhD from the University of Zurich, ETH Zurich or the University of Basel and will receive an additional PSC PhD Program Certification for successful completion.


In the PSC PhD Program in Plant Sciences PhD students are embedded in a lively and international community of approx. 700 researchers. As a PhD student you may also take the opportunity to engage yourself in the PSC PhD association (PS2A)

The PSC PhD Program is member of the Life Science Zurich Graduate School (International PhD Programs in Life Sciences).
